Emotional Literacy

Children need to develop vocabulary around emotions and to be comfortable talking about their feelings.

At the beginning and end of their Wellbeing Routine ask the child to identify how they are feeling.

AFFIRMATIONS

Programming Positives

We want our children to develop a positive image of themselves. In order to do this is important the they speak to themselves in a positive manner and affirm their strengths.

​

Positive "I am" statements affirmed daily (preferably while looking in the mirror) can help children develop self confidence.

Relaxation/ Breathing

When the body is under stress it can respond with flight, fright or freeze. It is important to have some quick and easy relaxation techniques available for children.
